
Police in Adamawa State have arrested a 19-year-old man, Mohammed Umar, for allegedly disguising as a woman within the premises of a church in Yola South Local Government Area.
Umar, a resident of Abuja Road in Yola South, was apprehended at the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Ngurore, after his suspicious behavior drew attention.
According to a statement from the Adamawa State Police Command, the suspect was found “wearing clothing typically associated with the opposite sex.” His actions prompted a concerned individual, identified as Sunday Andrawus, to alert the Ngurore Divisional Police Headquarters.
Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje confirmed that the arrest took place on Monday, May 18, 2025. He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola for a thorough investigation.
Authorities have not disclosed Umar’s motive for the disguise, but say further details will emerge as investigations continue.
