Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has directed the chairmen of the 11 local government areas in Ibadan to provide a befitting fleet of vehicles for the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin.

The directive, announced nearly 11 months after the monarch’s coronation on July 12, 2024, was disclosed by Makinde during the grand finale of the Ibadan Cultural Week held at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan, on Saturday.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Olubadan of Ibadanland (represented by Oba Rasidi Ladoja), Chairman of the event Architect Bamidele Samson, Chairman of the Planning Committee Chief Abiola Alli, and President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief Sulaimon Ajewole.

Makinde emphasized that the local government chairmen are expected to deliver the vehicles before the end of the month.

“They have been asking why a vehicle befitting the status of the Olubadan of Ibadanland has not been provided. I have sent a message to the 11 local government areas in Ibadanland, and I said they must provide a befitting fleet of vehicles for the Olubadan before the end of this month,” Makinde stated.
