Kwara Erects Tallest Flagpole In West Africa

Kwara State has unveiled a towering 70-metre flagpole, the tallest in West Africa, symbolising both cultural pride and economic ambition.

Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo described the structure as a “cultural lighthouse and economic catalyst,” reflecting the state’s evolving status as a hub for innovation, tourism, and agribusiness.

He noted that the flagpole signifies more than national pride; it represents Kwara’s commitment to unity, diversity, and sustainable development, while serving as a beacon for tourism and investment.

Olododo added that the monumental flagpole is part of broader urban renewal efforts aimed at positioning Kwara as a leader in technology, creative economy, and hospitality.
