Kidnappers Kill Ondo APC Chairman Despite Ransom Payment

The Ward 5 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nelson Adepoyigi, has been killed by his abductors despite the payment of ransom.

Adepoyigi was kidnapped last Monday while parking his vehicle at his residence in Ifon. His captors initially demanded a ransom of N100 million but later settled for N5 million after negotiations.

Tragically, Adepoyigi was killed after two community members from Ifon volunteered to deliver the N5 million ransom. The kidnappers seized the volunteers as well, demanding an additional N30 million for their release.

However, the volunteers were eventually freed. Community sources disclosed that the kidnappers hinted that Adepoyigi had been specifically marked for death by those allegedly behind his abduction.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Ose Local Government, Kolapo Ojo, expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in the area.

“This pattern of brazen abductions, even at the very gates of people’s homes, confirms that insecurity has taken a dangerous and intolerable dimension,” Ojo said. “We urge our people to remain vigilant, promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security post, and stand united as we work together to overcome this threat.”
