President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to Dame Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola, former First Lady of Lagos State, as she marks her 60th birthday.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu lauded Dame Fashola’s steadfast commitment to public service, education management, and advocacy on health and socio-economic issues.
The President commended her significant role in promoting awareness and driving campaigns around children’s and women’s health, describing her as a woman of compassion and purpose.
He also highlighted her leadership as Chairperson of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), where she championed initiatives such as the establishment of recreation centres and support for the screening and treatment of breast and cervical cancers.
“Dame Fashola is devoted to her family, seeing it as a priority and a haven for growth and development. Her marriage, characterised by religious tolerance—she is a devout Christian and her husband a Muslim—is a powerful example of unity and understanding, crucial elements in nation-building”, President Tinubu said.
He further acknowledged her unwavering support for her husband, former Lagos State Governor and ex-Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), noting her quiet but impactful contributions throughout his public service journey.
President Tinubu concluded his tribute with prayers for continued health, joy, and fulfillment for Dame Fashola, describing her as “an exemplar of grace, strength, and service to humanity.”
