A farmer has died and two others are in critical condition following an attack by a swarm of bees at Olobe Farm in Igbajo, Osun State.

The incident occurred on Friday, April 18, 2025, as the victims were working on the farm. The deceased, identified as Abideen Olabiyi from Alalade compound in Ada, was with two others — Solomon Kingsley and Chief Olusegun Alalade — when the bees attacked without warning.

According to a report from the Otan-Aiyegbaju Division of the Osun State Police Command, the incident was reported by Babasanjo Alalade, a relative of the victims.

“Today, Friday 18/04/2025, at about 1645hrs, a complaint was received from one Babasanjo Alalade of Alalade compound, Ada. He reported that three of his relatives — Abideen Olabiyi, Mr. Solomon Kingsley, and Chief Olusegun Alalade — went to Olobe Farm in Igbajo, where they were suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees,” the police report stated.

Abideen Olabiyi was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two other victims managed to escape with serious injuries.

Police detectives visited the scene, took photographs, and transported the deceased to Healthy Paradise Mortuary, Ikirun, for autopsy. The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at a medical facility in Ada, where their conditions remain critical
