Three suspected members of a notorious five-man kidnapping syndicate said to have been terrorizing Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State have been arrested in the early hours of Sunday at Ogoli-Ugboju.

The operation, which led to their arrest, was made possible through the joint efforts of the Executive Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Hon. Prince Maxwell Ogiri, and local security operatives.

Among those arrested are Abu Umaru, Ashimu, and Ibrahim Salleh—identified as key figures in the gang responsible for a string of kidnappings in the area.

Confirming the arrest, Hon. Ogiri commended the security agencies for their swift and determined response in tackling the security threat.

“These are three members of a five-man kidnapping gang that has been terrorizing Otukpo and its surrounding communities,” he stated. “Our gallant security team pursued and apprehended them today, Sunday, April 6, 2025, in Ogoli-Ugboju. Efforts are ongoing to capture their remaining accomplices and any local collaborators.”

When contacted, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Kate Anene, said she had not yet been briefed on the development but would reach out to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for updates.

“I have not been briefed, but I will contact the DPO,” she told NEWS BULLETIN.
