The General Overseer of a new-generation church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, identified only as Elijah, has been arrested by the police over allegations of homosexuality.
Sources revealed that the cleric, whose church is located on Eagle Island, Port Harcourt, was exposed after a man he allegedly made advances toward secretly recorded and leaked a video of their interaction.
According to an anonymous source, the man pretended to play along to gather evidence, capturing a nude video of the pastor during their encounter before making further demands.
“We don’t know how the Octopus Strike Force of the Rivers State Police got the video, but they began tracking the pastor afterward,” the source said. “Acting on credible intelligence, officers trailed him to one of his relaxation spots and arrested him.”
Investigations reportedly uncovered his involvement with both male adults and minors within and outside Port Harcourt.
Confirming the arrest on Tuesday, Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the pastor was taken into custody last Friday and had already been charged to court.
“Yes, I can confirm the arrest. He is currently in custody and under investigation,” said Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police. “The case has already been transferred to court.”
