The newly reconstituted Kwara State House of Assembly Committee on Health and Nutrition, on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025, hosted key stakeholders in the state’s health sector for a familiarization meeting at the Assembly Complex.

The gathering aimed to foster stronger collaboration and discuss the continuous improvement of health services for Kwarans.

The delegation was led by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam, and included notable figures such as Prof. Nusirat Elelu, Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA); Dr. Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter, Executive Secretary of the Kwara Health Insurance Agency (KWHIA); Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, Executive Secretary of the Hospital Management Board (HMB); and Dr. Ahmed Bola, Chief Medical Director of Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH).

Also present were the Clerk to the Kwara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Olayiwola Ahmed, and his Deputy, Mall. Mosadi Kareem.

The meeting, held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, focused on the current state of healthcare services in Kwara and discussed developmental issues critical to the delivery of quality medical care to residents.

During the meeting, the Committee Chairman, Ogbeni David Sheun Ogunniyi, emphasized the alignment of the Committee’s legislative agenda with the vision of Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

He praised the Governor’s significant strides in revitalizing the state’s health sector and reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to ensuring that Kwara continues to reap the benefits of the robust investments in healthcare.

The Committee on Health and Nutrition, now under new leadership, has vowed to build on the achievements made under Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration, focusing on sustaining and advancing the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

The members expressed their determination to work closely with the Ministry of Health and other agencies to enhance the quality of healthcare services across the state.

The reconstituted House Committee on Health and Nutrition includes: Ogbeni Ogunniyi David Sheun – Committee Chairman, Hon. Lawal Arinola Fatimoh – Deputy Chairman, Hon. Mohammed Baba Salihu – Member, Hon. Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu – Member, Hon. Yusuf Atoyebi Musa – Member, Mrs. Gambari A.M. – Committee Clerk, Alabi Muhammed – Assistant Committee Clerk amond others.

In conclusion, the Committee reassured the Ministry of Health and its agencies of the Kwara State House of Assembly’s continued support in achieving their institutional goals and upholding the vision of better healthcare for all Kwarans.
