The Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Kenedy Peretei, has tendered his resignation, citing a lack of genuine commitment by the party’s leadership to winning elections.
In a scathing resignation letter addressed to the chairman of Arogbo Ward 1, Peretei accused key figures in the party of selfishness and using the platform merely as a vehicle for personal gain during election seasons.
“It has become impossible to work with individuals whose only interest is themselves and how to trade the party during every election cycle,” he wrote.
Peretei, who previously served as the party’s Financial Secretary from 1999 to 2003 and returned as Publicity Secretary in 2020, expressed disappointment over the state of the party. According to him, the PDP in Ondo has deteriorated beyond repair.
“Those who have held the party hostage and made it incapable of winning elections over the last three cycles have further tightened their grip. The PDP in Ondo State, which was on life support, is now heading to the mortuary,” he stated.
He also took a swipe at party loyalists who rely solely on election funding and political patronage, urging them to seek more sustainable means of livelihood.
“For those who survive on election funds and party handouts, I advise they find alternative sources of income so they can lead more meaningful lives than that of political bandits or yes-men,” he added.
