The Honourable Member representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi, has extended heartfelt condolences to His Royal Majesty, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I, the Olofa of Offa, over the passing of his beloved mother, Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi, popularly known as Iya Ijebu.

Mama Iya Ijebu passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience.

In a condolence statement issued by his media office, Hon. Ogunniyi described the late matriarch as “a devout Muslim, a caring mother, and a dutiful woman who was industrious in all her undertakings.” He noted that Mama played a significant role in fostering unity and love within the Gbadamosi family and the larger Offa community.

“The loss of a mother is a painful and irreparable one. Mama Iya Ijebu was more than just a mother to the royal family; she was a great-grandmother, grandmother, and a revered figure whose life positively touched many. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kabiyesi and the entire royal household during this difficult time. We pray that Almighty God grants them comfort and strength,” he stated.

Hon. Ogunniyi also extended his sympathy to the entire people of Offa, acknowledging the shared grief the town feels at the loss of such a respected matriarch. He prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked that God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
