Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan has been fined a total of N5 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following security breaches during their Matchday 32 clash against Ikorodu City at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
The sanctions include a N3 million fine for failure to provide adequate security and maintain order during the match, and an additional N2 million payable to Ikorodu City for damages to the team’s bus after the game.
As a result, 3SC has been ordered to play their subsequent home matches behind closed doors, with fans indefinitely banned from accessing the stadium.
Following a disciplinary panel meeting on Wednesday, the club was found guilty on three counts: failing to ensure proper security, failing to control their supporters—who attacked the visiting team—and allowing objects to be thrown onto the pitch and at referees.
For their failure to prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing restricted areas and harassing match officials, 3SC was fined N1 million.
In its official ruling, the NPFL stated:
“You are in breach of Rule C9 of the Framework and Rules of the Nigeria Premier Football League, in that on Sunday, 6th April 2025, during Match Day 32 between Shooting Stars and Ikorodu City, you failed to ensure the proper conduct of your supporters, resulting in the assault of the away team’s supporters.”
The league emphasized that the disciplinary measures serve as a warning to all clubs to uphold safety and discipline during matches.
