The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, at its retail outlets across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A DAILY POST correspondent observed that as of Saturday, the price had been reviewed downward from N950 to N935 per litre at several NNPCL stations in Abuja.
Motorists across the city confirmed the price adjustment. Abdullahi Hashim, a resident of Kubwa, said, “I observed the drop in the fuel price to N935 per litre on Saturday morning. It is a welcome development.”
Another motorist, Bukola Adewole, noted that the new price was first noticed at a station in Wuse Zone 4 on Friday, adding that the NNPCL outlet along Kubwa Expressway had only just reflected the change.
The adjustment follows a recent announcement by Dangote Refinery, which slashed its ex-depot petrol price from N865 to N835 per litre. The 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery stated that its partners—such as MRS and AP filling stations—are expected to sell petrol at prices ranging between N890 and N920 per litre, depending on the location.
Despite this development, DAILY POST observed that MRS stations in Abuja have not dispensed fuel since Wednesday, April 16, 2025—the same day Dangote Refinery announced the price cut.
