The Kaduna State chapter of the Middle Belt Forum has strongly opposed the proposed relocation of the Television campus of Kaduna Polytechnic, calling on the Federal Ministry of Education, the Kaduna State Government, and the Presidency to immediately reverse the decision.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Forum’s Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Solomon Danbaki, warned that moving the campus would severely impact education, economic activity, and social equity in Chikun Local Government Area.
“The Television campus supports thousands of livelihoods—food vendors, transport workers, rental services, and small businesses all depend on it,” Danbaki said. “Relocating it would cripple these enterprises, deepen poverty, and destabilize the local economy.”
He emphasized that the campus has long provided accessible education to low-income students, rural youth, women, and first-generation learners. Moving it elsewhere, he argued, would marginalize these vulnerable groups and worsen existing inequalities.
“As the only federal institution in Chikun LGA, the Television campus stands as a symbol of inclusion and development. Taking it away would be a direct blow to the Middle Belt region and a betrayal of the host communities,” the Forum stated.
Danbaki further criticized the relocation as a move that ignores the campus’s foundational mission and disrupts the socio-economic fabric of surrounding communities like Unguwan Yelwa, Gbagyi Villa, and Sabon Tasha.
“This is not just a bureaucratic decision—it is an assault on the hopes and dignity of our people,” he said. “The campus is a vital lifeline for education and economic empowerment.”
He expressed solidarity with Eagle’s Brain Human Rights Organization and the affected communities, warning that the Forum would pursue every lawful avenue—including litigation and peaceful protest—if the relocation proceeds.
Danbaki urged Governor Uba Sani to immediately suspend the relocation plan and engage all stakeholders in open, transparent dialogue. He also called on Education Minister Prof. Tahir Mamman to uphold the campus’s federal mandate and guarantee equitable access to education.
Finally, he appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and protect the interests of marginalized communities in Chikun LGA.
