A Lagos resident, Kamoru Ojo, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his 27-year-old daughter, Shakirat, and burying her in a shallow grave within their compound in the Ojo area of the state.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, April 3, 2025, following a heated altercation between father and daughter. According to sources, the disagreement escalated, leading Ojo to physically assault Shakirat until she lost consciousness and died.
In a bid to conceal the crime, Ojo allegedly buried her body in a shallow grave on their premises.
Concerns over Shakirat’s whereabouts prompted a missing person report to be filed at the Okokomaiko Division of the Lagos State Police Command. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were subsequently deployed, and their search led to the discovery of her remains.
Confirming the development, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect is in custody and the victim’s body has been exhumed and deposited in a public morgue for autopsy.
He added that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
