The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has dismissed reports suggesting it has released an official timetable for the 2025 Local Government elections, describing the circulating document as false and unauthorised.

In a statement issued on Friday, LASIEC clarified that the purported election notice did not originate from the Commission and urged political parties, stakeholders, and the general public to disregard it.

The clarification comes in response to widespread online claims that LASIEC had scheduled chairmanship and councillorship elections for July 19, 2025.

Reacting to the misinformation, LASIEC Chairman, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (rtd), stressed that the Commission adheres strictly to legal procedures in all its operations, including election announcements.

“It has come to the attention of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) that a fake 2025 Notice of Elections is currently circulating on social media and various online platforms, purportedly issued by the Commission,” she said.

She further reiterated that LASIEC had not released any such notice and warned the public, particularly political parties and other key stakeholders, to disregard the publication.

“The conduct of Local Government elections in Lagos State follows a legally defined process. At the appropriate time, and in accordance with the law, a genuine notice of election will be published in national newspapers,” she added.
