Member representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Ogbeni Seun David Ogunniyi Adato, has extended Good Friday greetings to the Christian faithful across Offa, Kwara State, and Nigeria at large.
He also called for love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among citizens.
In a goodwill message released on Friday, Ogunniyi reflected on the significance of Passion Week, also known as the Holy Week, which marks the final days leading up to Easter.
He emphasized the spiritual importance of the week, beginning with Palm Sunday and culminating in Good Friday—the day Christians commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.
“Passion Week begins with Palm Sunday, which celebrates Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. It is followed by a series of significant events including His betrayal on Holy Wednesday, the observance of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday, and the crucifixion on Good Friday,” he explained.
Ogunniyi also recalled his participation in this year’s Palm Sunday rally organized by the Offa chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), held on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
The procession, which moved through various parts of Offa metropolis, included prayer stops at key junctions, where intercessions were offered for the peace, prosperity, and good governance of Offa, Kwara State, and Nigeria.
Special prayers were also offered for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Today, being Good Friday, is a time for deep reflection on the suffering and love of Christ for all humanity,” he said. “I urge everyone to embrace love, peace, and unity, regardless of our religious, ethnic, or social differences.”
The lawmaker encouraged Christians to allow the redemptive power of Christ’s sacrifice to manifest in their daily lives and communities as they prepare for the celebration of Easter.
“May the benefits of the grace and redemption that Christ’s death purchased for mankind find expression in our lives, homes, and society at large. Happy Good Friday,” he concluded.
