Two senior officials of Oke-Ero Local Government Area in Kwara State, who were abducted last Friday, have regained their freedom.
The victims, Barrister Omoladun Elizabeth Arinde, the council’s legal officer, and Alhaji Musibau Amuda, Director of Personnel Management, were released unharmed, according to a statement by the council chairman, Hon. James Abiodun Fadipe.
In a message of gratitude that circulated widely, Fadipe expressed appreciation to God for the safe return of the officials.
“This is indeed the Lord’s doing, and we are filled with joy and thanksgiving,” he said.
He also extended thanks to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the leadership of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), religious leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies, political leaders, party members, and the general public for their support during the ordeal.
“We remain committed to working together for the continued peace, progress, and development of our local government,” the statement read, adding prayers for sustained unity and success across the community.
Details surrounding the circumstances of their release have not yet been disclosed.
