The leadership crisis rocking the Living Trust Bank seems not to have any end in sight as the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Regional Integration, Kamaldeen Adekilekun is set to defy the governor’s directive on the constitution of the board of directors.
According to sources privy to the matter, the Central Bank of Nigeria rejected the nomination of Dr Wale Bolorunduro as the Chairman of the Board of the bank as nominated by the Osun State Government.
InsightMedia recalled that the State government in a letter last month re-nominated Bolorunduro, a former commissioner for finance in the State, as the chairman, having been rejected earlier by the apex bank.
In a twist of events, Adekilekun, whose nomination as an Independent Non-Executive Director, was withdrawn by the Governor late last month, is set to defy the governor’s directive and attend a board meeting slated for Friday, April 18.
According to the letter obtained by InsightMedia, the government promised to nominate Adekilekun’s replacement in due course.
It partly read, “Please be informed that we write to withdraw the nomination of Dr. Kamaldeen Adekilekun as a State Director nominee on the Board of Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc with immediate effect. We shall communicate possible replacement in due course.”
It was gathered Adekilekun is vying for the position of chairmanship of the board of the bank, a move not sitting well with the Governor.
Reacting to the allegation, Adekilekun said he’s not aware of alleged withdrawal of his name, stating that “events have over taken the said letter”.
He attributed the allegations against him as handworks of some individuals who do not want him to participate in the Friday meeting of the board of directors of the Bank.
“Events have over taken that letter you may have. You may contact the Chief of staff or any other government officials to confirm that. Their problem is that they don’t want the Friday meeting to hold.”
“I have come to serve my State and I believe I can take the Bank to a greater level.”
