The Honourable Member representing Ojomu-Balogun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Seun Ogunniyi, was in attendance at the grand finale of the Easter Football Competition organized by the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Offa Chapter.
The exciting final match, held on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oluyemo field, saw C&S Church, Oke-Iye, edge out Ifeoluwa Baptist Church in a tense penalty shootout.
The game, which ended 3-2 in favour of C&S Church, marked the climax of a spirited tournament that brought together youths from various church denominations under the CAN umbrella in Offa.
Hon. Ogunniyi, in his remarks, commended the leadership of YOWICAN for the initiative, describing the competition as a laudable platform for fostering unity, encouraging sportsmanship, and promoting the positive engagement of youths in the community. He highlighted the importance of such events in identifying and nurturing young talents in sports and leadership.
The YOWICAN Easter programme featured a series of indoor games, athletic events, and football matches over the past few weeks, all aimed at strengthening inter-denominational bonds and ensuring meaningful youth participation during the Easter season.
