Olofa of Offa's Mother Passes On To Glory The mother of the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I, Matriarch Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi (Iya Ijebu), aged 94, has passed away. This was contained in a press release issued by Idowu Olufemi Israel, the Principal Private Secretary to the Olofa of Offa. According to the statement, the respected matriarch breathed her last on the evening of Saturday, April 5, 2025. Born on January 3, 1931, Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi lived a long, impactful life devoted to faith, family, and community. She is survived by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The Janazah (Islamic funeral prayer) is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday, April 6, 2025, by 4:00 PM at the residence of His Royal Majesty, located on Muu Road, Offa, Kwara State. The Palace prays that Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings, grants her eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and bestows strength upon the family and the entire Offa community to bear this irreparable loss.

A member of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing Eesa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency, Honourable Abdulwaheed Gbenga Yusuf JK, has expressed sorrow over the passing of Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi (Iya Ijebu), the revered mother of the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I.

In a condolence message personally signed by the lawmaker and made available to the press, Hon. Yusuf described the late matriarch as “a mother to all, a beacon of wisdom, humility, and unwavering faith,” who lived a life of exemplary service to humanity and devotion to Allah.

“Mama’s passing is a great loss not only to the royal family and the people of Offa but to the entire Kwara South. Her enduring values and motherly guidance were evident in the grace and leadership of her son, Kabiyesi Olofa of Offa, whose reign has brought pride to our land,” the statement read.

Hon. Yusuf extended his condolences to His Royal Majesty, the Olofa of Offa, the entire royal family, and both the nuclear and extended families of the late Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

He further prayed that Allah grant Kabiyesi, the entire Gbadamosi family, and the people of Offa the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
