Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arrested prominent businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu, shortly after her arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to a statement issued by her legal team, Achimugu voluntarily returned to Nigeria from London and was taken into custody by EFCC officials around 5 a.m.
Her lawyers informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that she had already disclosed her intention to present herself before the anti-graft agency in relation to an ongoing investigation involving allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court had previously ordered Achimugu to report to the EFCC on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in connection with the case. The court also directed that she must appear before it on Wednesday, April 30, to continue legal proceedings.
