The Benue State Local Government Elections Petition Tribunal, sitting at the NBA House in Abuja, has nullified the election of Melvin Ejeh as Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area.

In its ruling delivered on Sunday, the tribunal declared Napoleon Otache as the rightful winner of the Agatu chairmanship election.

The judgment followed a petition challenging the validity of the poll in Agatu, one of Benue State’s 23 local government areas.

Reacting to the decision, Ejeh described the ruling as a “total miscarriage of justice” and vowed to challenge it through the appeal process.

“My fellow citizens of Agatu Local Government, you are aware of the total miscarriage of justice done to me on a matter of the same facts and evidence across the 23 local government areas of Benue State,” Ejeh said in a statement.

He insisted that he remains the legitimate chairman pending the outcome of the appeal and called for calm among residents.

“I urge everyone to stay calm and united. I have already mobilized my team of lawyers who are proceeding to the appeal tribunal,” he said.

Ejeh expressed confidence in reclaiming his mandate, assuring supporters that justice would prevail.
