The Akwa Ibom State Government has refuted claims circulating online that Governor Umo Eno has begun disbursing N50,000 business grants to all residents of the state.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ekerete Udoh, the public was warned against falling for what he described as a fraudulent scheme.

Udoh stressed that the website link promoting the alleged grant is fake, adding that all genuine empowerment programmes under Governor Eno’s administration are only accessible via the official platform: https://employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng.

“Our attention has been drawn to a scam designed to deceive unsuspecting members of the public, falsely claiming that His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, has initiated the payment of N50,000 business grants to all individuals in the state,” the statement read.

“The scammers further allege that over 10,000 people have already received N50,000 each from the Governor’s so-called Community Development Group.

“We wish to categorically state that the link being circulated is fake. The public is advised to disregard this fraudulent message and avoid falling prey to such deceitful tactics.”

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and urged citizens to seek information only from verified and official sources.
