Senate President Godswill Akpabio has disassociated himself from a planned rally in Akwa Ibom State, which he described as “satanic.”

The event, organized by the Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR) and led by Ubong Idemudo—a figure known for controversy—is scheduled for April 4, 2025.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio urged security agencies to prevent the rally, emphasizing that he never endorsed it.

Titled “Disregard Any Rally in Akwa Ibom Purported to Be in Support of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, GCON,” the statement condemned the event as a scheme by fifth columnists attempting to exploit Akpabio’s name for ulterior motives.

“The attention of the Office of the Senate President has been drawn to a planned rally falsely presented as support for Senator Akpabio. This event, organized by the so-called Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR) and led by the controversial Ubong Idemudo, is scheduled for April 4, 2025,” the statement read.

It further directed the police and other security agencies to ensure the rally does not take place, reiterating that it has no approval from the Senate President.
