Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has responded to an alleged obituary photo of his principal that recently surfaced online.
Reports had circulated claiming that Wike collapsed at an event in Abuja on Friday, fueling speculation about his health. Some users on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) even went as far as sharing an ‘obituary photo,’ falsely suggesting the Minister had passed away.
However, Wike dispelled the rumors by making a public appearance on Sunday. He led a delegation of FCT community leaders to pay a Sallah homage to President Bola Tinubu at the State House.
Reacting to the controversy on his official X handle, Olayinka accused Nigerian actress Hilda Dokubo of being involved in spreading the false reports, alleging that she was paid to fabricate the collapse story.
“But normally, Fubara should be asking for a refund from Hilda Dokubo,” he wrote.
“After collecting millions of naira from the ‘Opobo Judas’ of Rivers to stage Wike’s obituary photos and perform some rituals, they went ahead to spread the false story of him collapsing and being in a coma, just to please Fubara and make him believe they had succeeded.”
He further mocked the situation, questioning, “So what will FAILED ACTRESS HILDA DOKUBO tell Fubara now? Ugochinyere scammed Fubara. Hilda Dokubo scammed Fubara. Who else?”
The controversy continues to stir reactions online, with both supporters and critics weighing in on the allegations.
