The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.), has appointed Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
In a statement on Tuesday, Ibas announced the appointment, highlighting Worika’s qualifications and experience.
“His Excellency, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.), CFR, the Administrator of Rivers State, is pleased to appoint Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG).
“His selection follows a rigorous process, considering his outstanding credentials, extensive experience, and proven track record.
“Professor Worika’s distinguished career in academia, international legal practice, and high-level policy advisory roles uniquely positions him to support the administrator in fulfilling Mr. President’s mandate. His appointment takes immediate effect.
“This decision underscores the administrator’s commitment to leveraging the talent and expertise of the Rivers people to achieve lasting peace, stability, and security in the state,” the statement added.
This marks the first major appointment by Ibas since his appointment as sole administrator on March 18, 2025, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
Meanwhile, Dr. George Nwaeke, Head of the Rivers State Civil Service under the suspended governor, tendered his resignation on Tuesday.
