The wife of Rivers State’s former Head of Service (HoS), Florence Nwaeke, has raised the alarm over the mysterious disappearance of her husband, George Nwaeke, following his resignation from office.

Speaking to journalists late Friday, a visibly distressed Mrs. Nwaeke expressed fears for her husband’s safety, stating that she has been unable to reach him since his arrival in Abuja.

“When he got to Abuja, he called to say he had landed safely. I was relieved,” she recounted. “But later that night, I started receiving calls saying he had granted an interview. I was confused. Interview? About what?”

She insisted that the man seen speaking in the interview was not acting of his own free will.

“I sent him messages: ‘Are you under duress? Have they kidnapped you? Talk to me! Why are you not responding?’ But there was no reply. His numbers are not going through. Nigerians, please help me! My husband is in trouble,” she cried.

Her distress comes just hours after George Nwaeke’s explosive interview, in which he made serious allegations against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Among other claims, he accused the governor of plotting to support Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, in the 2027 presidential election and of holding meetings with militants to sabotage oil facilities.

In a separate video, Mrs. Nwaeke appealed directly to Governor Fubara, alleging that her husband resigned under pressure and was being coerced into making false confessions.

“He is in trouble. He resigned to avoid conflict, yet they won’t leave him alone,” she said.

Beyond her public plea, she also reached out to Governor Fubara through Channels TV, urging him to intervene and secure her husband’s release.
