The Bauchi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the tragic death of a 24-year-old woman, allegedly killed by her 50-year-old husband during a dispute over Ramadan meal preparations.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakili, the incident occurred on March 1, 2025, at around 11:30 p.m. in the Fadamam Mada area, near Government Girls College, Bauchi.

The suspect, Alhaji Nuru Isah, a businessman at the Bauchi Central Market, reportedly assaulted his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, following an argument over food ingredients and fruits meant for breaking their fast. The altercation escalated, and Isah allegedly beat Wasila with a cane, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness.

She was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.

Police have arrested the suspect and recovered the cane used in the attack as evidence. The victim’s body has been deposited in the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, assured the public that justice will be served and emphasized the dangers of domestic violence. He urged families to foster respect and understanding in their homes.

The police also encouraged residents to report cases of domestic abuse, stressing that such violence carries serious legal consequences.
