
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Ikechukwu Chinedu, 22, and Abdulwahab Mohammed, 18, in possession of 76 sachets of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The arrest was made during a routine patrol by the Anti-Violence Squad at Tumfure Quarters, Gombe, on March 20, 2025, at about 2100 hours.
Disclosing this in a press statement made available to our correspondent on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Gombe State police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police Buhari Abdullahi, noted that efforts were on to rid the state off drugs.
“We are committed to ridding the state of illicit drugs and other substance abuse
“The command urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.”
The suspects are currently in police custody and undergoing investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, they will be charged to court accordingly.
“This arrest is part of the command’s efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of all residents in Gombe State,” Abdullahi added.
