Honourable Seun Ogunniyi Adato, a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned legal scholar, Prof. Rasheed Jimoh Ijaodola, SAN.

In a heartfelt tribute, Hon. Ogunniyi described the late professor as a “bold, fearless, truthful, and audacious erudite legal mind” whose contributions to the legal profession and education were immense.

Prof. Ijaodola, a holder of three doctorate degrees—including a PhD in Christian Studies despite being a Muslim—was celebrated for his liberal thinking and unwavering commitment to justice.

“He was a fighter of good causes, a man who believed that knowledge is the weapon for the conquest of oppression and ignorance,” Ogunniyi stated.

With a distinguished career spanning four decades, Prof. Ijaodola served as the Dean of Oba Erediauwa College of Law at Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, and was a respected member of the Council of Legal Education.

As a teacher and mentor, he played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of many legal professionals who continue to make significant contributions to society.

Hon. Ogunniyi, who attended the late professor’s Janaza (Islamic burial) in Offa, described the loss as deeply personal, acknowledging the wisdom and guidance he received from Prof. Ijaodola.

“His death is an irreparable loss to the legal community, the academic world, and to all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will forever be remembered,” he added.

The lawmaker extended his condolences to the family, friends, and the entire Offa community, praying for divine comfort and eternal rest for the departed.
