In a remarkable display of humanitarian service, the Dele Shittu Foundation successfully distributed 6,000 food relief packages across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State.
The Food Distribution Programme, which took place from February 23 to February 26, 2025, aimed to alleviate hunger among underserved and vulnerable communities.
The distribution exercise kicked off in Kwara South, reaching multiple towns, including Ijagbo, Igosun, Ipe, Ojoku, Offa, Ira, Idofian, Omupo, Ajase, Igbaja, Oro, Esie, and Buari, among others. The foundation’s team ensured that food relief packages were provided to families facing economic hardship in these areas.
Expanding its reach, the foundation extended its benevolence to Kwara North, covering communities such as Lafiagi, Tsaragi, and Edogi Dukun, where food scarcity remains a significant challenge.
The initiative also made a significant impact in Kwara Central, particularly across Ilorin, ensuring that relief materials reached those in desperate need.
The Dele Shittu Foundation adopted a dual approach to the distribution process.
In some towns, the team implemented a random drop-off system, allowing beneficiaries to access food relief directly. In other areas, the foundation collaborated with traditional leaders and community heads, who helped identify and assemble the most vulnerable individuals for structured and orderly distribution. This strategy ensured that the food packages reached those who needed them the most.
The initiative aligns with the vision and passion of the foundation’s chairman, Dr. Lanre Shittu, who has consistently championed efforts to support the less privileged.
His deep commitment to humanitarian causes was evident as he personally joined the team in Offa Local Government Area, his hometown, where he witnessed firsthand the impact of the initiative. His presence further reinforced the foundation’s dedication to uplifting disadvantaged communities and addressing food insecurity in Kwara State.
The Dele Shittu Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable social intervention programs, emphasizing that the food distribution initiative is just one of many to come.
The foundation remains dedicated to reaching more communities and expanding its impact through various philanthropic projects aimed at poverty alleviation and social welfare.
As the economic challenges in the country persist, the Dele Shittu Foundation’s intervention serves as a beacon of hope, bringing relief to thousands of struggling families across Kwara State.
