Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared his near-death experience during an evangelism program about seven years ago.
Speaking at the annual Special Holy Ghost Service, themed “Joy Unspeakable,” Adeboye recounted how he collapsed in Ilesha due to the strain of bad roads, causing his body to break down completely. The health crisis was so severe that, for the first time in his life, he spent Christmas in bed.
He revealed that after collapsing, he had to be airlifted to the church camp for the program. However, an attempt to prevent the helicopter from taking off resulted in damage to one of its windows.
“Seven years ago, during this same program, my body completely broke down due to terrible road conditions,” Adeboye recalled. “For the first time in my life, I spent Christmas Day in bed. The devil thought he had finally won. I collapsed in Ilesha, and since I was too weak to travel by road, we had to charter a helicopter. If I had gone by road, I wouldn’t have made it.”
Now, seven years later, he remains strong. Concluding his testimony, Adeboye urged the congregation to give thanks to God for preserving his life.
