The Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olarewaju Sulaiman, has officially declared his intention to contest the Kwara State governorship position in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

In a statement released by his media team, Professor Sulaiman described the upcoming election as a defining moment for the state, urging the people to choose between progress and uncertainty.

He called on Kwarans to elect a leader with a proven track record of governance and a clear vision to consolidate on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s achievements.

“As a leader whose career spans governance, academia, and philanthropy, Professor Sulaiman has played a crucial role in strengthening legislative institutions and promoting democratic values across Nigeria,” the statement read.

The statement highlighted the progress made under Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration in areas such as education, economic growth, healthcare, and governance, stressing the need for continuity through experienced leadership.

“Among the aspirants for the governorship seat, none possesses Professor Sulaiman’s unique blend of experience, global exposure, and policy knowledge,” the statement added.

Professor Sulaiman was described as an advocate for education and youth empowerment, with a vision to drive sustainable development in the state.

“Come 2027, let’s vote for competence. Let’s vote for experience. Let’s vote for progress. Let’s vote for Professor Abubakar Sulaiman,” the statement concluded.
