In response to renewed hostilities between Ilobu and Ifon communities, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has announced a revised curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM daily to prevent further escalation and restore lasting peace.
This decision follows the initial curfew imposed weeks ago due to recurring communal clashes. However, the resurgence of violence has prompted stricter measures.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, Governor Adeleke expressed deep concern over the ongoing crisis and stressed the need for urgent intervention.
“Governor Adeleke is deeply dissatisfied with the fresh outbreak of violence in Ilobu and Ifon. Consequently, the previously enforced curfew from 10 PM to 4 AM has now been extended to 6 PM to 6 AM, effective today, Friday, March 21, 2025, until further notice.”
The Governor has also instructed a joint security team—comprising the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps—to sustain 24-hour surveillance and enforce zero tolerance for lawlessness.
Additionally, Governor Adeleke has summoned an urgent stakeholders’ meeting on Saturday, March 22, 2025, to address the conflict. Expected attendees include:

The Governor urged residents, particularly traditional rulers and community leaders, to embrace peace and coexistence. He warned that any individual or group fueling the conflict would face strict consequences.
