
A powerful downpour on Wednesday devastated Igbonna communities in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, destroying numerous buildings and an educational institution.
The torrential rainfall caused extensive structural damage, leading to the collapse of several buildings and a school, according to reports.
In response to the disaster, the Executive Chairman of Oyun Local Government, Kamar Olanrewaju Akanbi, visited the affected areas to assess the destruction firsthand.
During his visit, he expressed deep sympathy for the victims and assured them of the government’s unwavering support. He emphasized that relief efforts would be prioritized to ease the hardships faced by those affected.
As part of the government’s intervention, the chairman pledged that rebuilding the collapsed school would be a key focus in the upcoming development plans. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure improvement and the well-being of the community.
