…Badejo-Okusanya Pays Tribute
Mallam Kabir Dangogo, former Secretary General of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), has passed away at the age of 76. He died on March 6, 2025.
Dangogo retired from Union Bank of Nigeria Plc in 2005 as an Assistant General Manager and Head of the Corporate Affairs Department. Throughout his career, he held various roles, including editor, lecturer, public relations manager, author, publisher, advertising agent, and corporate reputation adviser.
He was also the pioneer president of the Association of Corporate Communications and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB). He is survived by his wife, three children, and other relatives. His remains were laid to rest in Kaduna in accordance with Islamic rites.
In a heartfelt tribute, former APRA President Yomi Badejo-Okusanya reflected on Dangogo’s legacy, describing him as instrumental in shaping APRA’s foundation.
“I mourn today one of my predecessors in office, Secretary General (SG) Mallam Kabir Dangogo. Elected as SG in Accra in 2003, he played a crucial role in laying the groundwork for APRA as it stands today. It was on this foundation that we built,” Badejo-Okusanya wrote.
He further described Dangogo as diligent and meticulous, emphasizing his commitment to following due process, even when it made him appear inflexible.
“His illness in the later years slowed him down significantly, depriving us of further valuable contributions he could have made. Undoubtedly, he will be remembered for his immense contributions to the profession,” he added.
