A fire outbreak occurred at a section of the Port Harcourt Refinery in Rivers State on Wednesday, NEWS BULLETIN has learned.

The incident was confirmed by the National President of the Petroleum Retailers Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry.

According to him, the fire was swiftly contained within five minutes of breaking out.

“Yes, there was a fire outbreak at the Port Harcourt Refinery, but it was brought under control in five minutes,” Gillis-Harry told News Bulletin.

This incident comes just hours after two explosions rocked the Manifold pipeline and Trans-Niger Pipeline in the Omwawriwa axis of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area and Bodo-Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

It also follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State due to unresolved crises and security concerns.
