The Federal High Court in Lagos has mandated Nigerian billionaire Oba Otudeko to appear and enter a plea in response to charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke issued the order on Monday following the EFCC’s filing of a 13-count charge against Otudeko—former Chairman of Honeywell Group—and three others over an alleged ₦30 billion loan fraud.
During the hearing, the judge stated that Otudeko must take his plea before the court could consider an application challenging its jurisdiction. The case has been adjourned to May 8.
Last month, Otudeko denied the allegations. On January 20, his counsel, Bode Olanipekun, objected to the charges against him in a Lagos court.
