Former Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, has officially declared his intention to run for re-election in the 2027 general elections.
Sani made this announcement on Sunday while delivering his Eid-el-Fitr message at his Kaduna residence.
Speaking on his decision, he stated, “Any politician running for office must consider the prevailing political landscape, which determines the position they contest for. If conditions are favorable, I will offer myself for the central senatorial district race. If the people of Kaduna Central seek our style of leadership and representation in the National Assembly, they can expect me back in the Senate in 2027.”
He emphasized that while his senatorial ambition remains secondary, his primary focus is securing a second term for Governor Uba Sani.
“For now, our priority is to ensure the re-election of Governor Uba Sani. We will put in all our efforts and strength to achieve this. We anticipate challenges and opposition, but we are fully prepared,” he asserted.
During his address, Sani urged Muslims to use the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations as an opportunity to pray for Nigeria’s peace and unity.
Condemning the recent killing of hunters in Edo State, he called on security agencies to apprehend those responsible.
“A country where citizens cannot move freely from one region to another is not truly united. If individuals take the law into their hands for any reason, it reflects a failure of governance and authority,” he remarked.
He further urged Nigerians committed to the nation’s progress to prioritize peace and unity, emphasizing that democracy must be preserved despite ongoing challenges.
Sani also called on the government to uphold citizens’ fundamental rights, stressing that the right to life must be respected above all else.
