An 18-year-old girl, Rukayat Ashiru, was on Friday arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing N4 million from her boyfriend.
Ashiru is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which she pleaded not guilty.
According to the prosecutor, Police Constable Olapeju Durodola, the alleged crime took place on November 30, 2024, at Mufu Lanihun, Yidi Agugu, Ibadan. Durodola stated that Ashiru, along with others still at large, allegedly laced her boyfriend Waris Olamilekan’s drink with a substance to make him lose consciousness before stealing the money.
The prosecutor noted that the offences contravene Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million, requiring two sureties in like sum. One surety must be a property owner within the court’s jurisdiction, while the other must be a blood relative of the defendant.
The case was adjourned until May 26 for a hearing.
