At least 17 students of an Almajiri school have tragically lost their lives in a fire that engulfed their school in Kauran Namoda, Zamfara State.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, was reported by Zagazola Makama, a counterterrorism and insurgency expert, in a post on X on Wednesday.
According to intelligence sources, the fire raged for about three hours before it was finally brought under control. Scores of students sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Eyewitnesses described the fire as devastating, noting that efforts to contain it were hindered by its intensity. Local authorities and emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist, but by then, the inferno had already claimed several lives and left many injured.
