The Leader of the Umunneochi Local Government Legislative Council, Mrs. Obiageri Chukwu, has been impeached and suspended indefinitely by her colleagues.
Her removal took place on Thursday, leading to the election of Nwankwo Kingsley Jude Nnamdi as the new Council Leader.
A statement issued by the newly appointed leader confirmed the leadership change but did not provide specific reasons for Chukwu’s impeachment.
The statement also listed the newly constituted principal officers of the council, including:
Deputy Leader: Joel Obumneme Uche
Majority Leader: Mba David C.
Deputy Majority Leader: Mrs. Nwafor Charity
Chief Whip: Ofoegbu Chukwubiko
The press release, which was copied to the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, reaffirmed that Mrs. Chukwu’s suspension remains indefinite.
