Two people lost their lives in a road accident on Sunday along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.

The crash, which occurred around 7:15 a.m. near Danco Filling Station, involved a Toyota Sienna with registration number EPE 430 HT and a stationary luxury bus belonging to Young Shall Grow Transport Company, registered as KTU 835 XY.

According to reports, the luxury bus, driven by Chukwudi Ilo from Anambra State, had stopped in traffic due to a minor accident ahead when the speeding Toyota Sienna lost control and rammed into its rear.

The Sienna, driven by Adewale Yusuf, was carrying five passengers, all of whom sustained severe injuries. They were rushed to Live Well Hospital in Sagamu for treatment.

Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola confirmed that two male passengers, Charles Izuchukwu, a staff member of Babcock University, and another unidentified occupant, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

“The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at Last Home Green Mortuary, Sagamu, while the Sienna driver and two other injured passengers are receiving medical care,” Odutola stated.

She added that officers from the Motor Traffic Department (MTD) responded promptly, documented the incident, and cleared the wreckage to restore traffic flow.

Both vehicles have been towed to the MTD office in Sagamu for further investigation and inspection by Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO).
