President Donald Trump on Thursday announced the formation of a task force aimed at eliminating anti-Christian bias within the U.S. government, marking an escalation in his administration’s efforts to address religious discrimination.

Trump appointed Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the initiative, which will focus on rooting out any perceived targeting of Christians by federal agencies, including the Department of Justice, the Internal Revenue Service, and the FBI. The task force will also prosecute cases involving anti-Christian violence and vandalism.

“We will protect Christians in our schools, military, government, workplaces, hospitals, and public spaces,” Trump declared.

In addition, he announced the establishment of a White House faith office, to be overseen by televangelist Paula White, his longtime spiritual advisor.

The move comes amid a broader shake-up of the federal government early in Trump’s second term.
