Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian has issued a statement following a plane crash at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday.
The aircraft, which departed from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, reportedly flipped over while landing at Toronto Pearson.
According to CBS News, at least eight people were injured, though the severity of their injuries remains unclear.
In a LinkedIn post, Bastian expressed concern and gratitude:
“The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today’s incident at Toronto-Pearson International Airport.
I want to express my thanks to the many Delta and Endeavor team members and the first responders on site. We are working to confirm the details and will share the most current information on news.delta.com as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe.”
Bastian, who has served as Delta’s CEO since 2016, remains active in corporate and aviation discussions on LinkedIn.
The Toronto crash is the latest in a series of aviation incidents this year.
In Washington, D.C., a Black Hawk Army helicopter collided with an American Airlines plane, resulting in the deaths of all 64 passengers and military crew.
A private medical flight crashed in Philadelphia on its return to Mexico, killing seven passengers and one person on the ground.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the Toronto crash.
