Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has revealed that he is undergoing psychiatric treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.
The singer made this disclosure on Tuesday while pleading with Nigerians and the Ogun State Government after being declared wanted by the state police command.
Portable is accused of assaulting three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—during an enforcement operation in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Ota.
Reports indicate that the town planners had approached Portable’s father at Odogwu Bar, a property allegedly owned by the singer, seeking the approved building plan. After being informed that Portable was unavailable, the officials were later ambushed by the singer, who allegedly led a group of nine armed men to attack them. The victims sustained injuries but managed to escape and report the incident to the police.
Authorities have since arrested nine of the assailants, while Portable remains at large.
In response, the singer took to Instagram, claiming he was being politically targeted. He alleged that he was set up because he wore a vest featuring the face of Senator Adeola Solomon, also known as Yayi.
Portable also insisted that he is under psychiatric care, stating, “I fear the government. I am a federal government liability. I’m a madman, and I take medications regularly. You can confirm from Aro Hospital—I have a card proving I am one of their patients.
“I am from Abeokuta, and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief; I help people without discrimination.”
As of the time of this report, Portable remains wanted by the police.
