[PHOTOS] Offa Engineers Organize Workshop on Productivity Office Tools for Secondary School Teachers

In a bid to enhance digital literacy and administrative efficiency among educators, the Offa Engineers, led by Engr. Maruf Olalekan Ajenifuja, in collaboration with Whales Academy Innovation Hub, successfully hosted a two-day capacity-building workshop on Productivity Office Tools for secondary school teachers in Offa Local Government Area (LGA), Kwara State.

The workshop, held on February 18th and 19th, 2025, brought together 40 teachers from 20 selected secondary schools in Offa.

It aimed to equip educators with essential technological skills to improve lesson planning, record-keeping, and overall productivity in their classrooms and school administration.

The training featured hands-on sessions, interactive exercises, and practical applications of productivity tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other essential software for educational management. Experienced ICT experts facilitated the sessions, ensuring that participants gained practical skills they could immediately apply in their daily work.

In his opening remarks, Engr. Samuel Ogundele, Vice President 1 of the Offa Engineers, who represented Engr. Maruf Ajenifuja, emphasized the critical role of digital skills in transforming education.

He stated: “We cannot be educationally effective if we are technologically defective. Teachers must be equipped with modern tools to enhance learning outcomes and streamline administrative tasks.”

Adding to this, Engr. Orilonise Abdulafeez, Assistant General Secretary 1 and a member of the organizing committee, highlighted the significance of digital proficiency for educators: “Equipping our teachers with modern technological tools is crucial for effective teaching and school administration. This workshop is part of our commitment to improving the quality of education in Offa LGA through technology.”

The participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative, acknowledging its immediate impact on their teaching and administrative functions.

The event concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, recognizing the teachers’ commitment to professional development.

Engr. Samuel Ogundele, Vice President 1 of the Offa Engineers and Engr. Fatai Yusuf, Protem Chairman of the NSE Offa Branch, presented certificates to the participants.

The Offa Engineers assured the teaching community that this initiative is only the beginning.

They announced plans for a second phase of the program to further integrate technology into education, ensuring that more teachers gain access to essential digital skills.

This workshop marks another milestone in the continuous effort to enhance education in Offa through technology-driven solutions, reaffirming the commitment of the Offa Engineers to fostering innovation in the local education sector.
