Former presidential aide, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, has announced that his political group, the Ekiti Rebirth Organisation (ERO), will support Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s bid for a second term—while holding him accountable and ensuring he remains on track.
Speaking over the weekend in Ado-Ekiti during a meeting with ERO supporters from all 16 local government areas, Ojudu praised the governor’s leadership, citing his role in fostering stability, economic growth, and development in Ekiti State over the past two and a half years.
Ojudu, a former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Muhammadu Buhari, contrasted Oyebanji’s tenure with the political turmoil that plagued the state before 2022, highlighting the administration’s commitment to peace and progress.
“Ekiti has seen massive road construction, support for small and medium-scale businesses, and agricultural investments to boost food security,” Ojudu said. “This is why stakeholders are calling for continuity beyond 2026.”
However, he emphasized that ERO’s endorsement was not about blind loyalty. “We are here to support with critical engagement,” he stated. “We will call out shortcomings, demand accountability, and ensure the governor stays on track. That is the role of responsible citizens.”
Ojudu noted that, unlike past administrations, Oyebanji’s leadership has encouraged political inclusivity, allowing dissent without fear of violence or intimidation. “For the first time in decades, Ekiti is experiencing governance that prioritizes inclusion over exclusion,” he added.
While commending the governor’s achievements, Ojudu urged him to remain focused on improving the state’s economy. He assured the people of Ekiti that ERO would continue to critically engage the government to ensure sustained progress.
