Infamous bandit leader Babaro has reportedly kidnapped Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga and is holding him captive in Bununu Forest, located in Faskari Local Government Area (LGA), near the border with Ƙankara LGA, Katsina State.

 

Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.

 

According to members of the Kandarawa community in Bakori LGA—who were also kidnapped by Babaro’s gang on January 14, 2025—Tsiga was seen in captivity during their time in the forest.

 

The former hostages, who secured their release after paying a ₦30 million ransom, confirmed that the retired Brigadier General was still being held when they left. However, they noted that he was being treated well, including receiving bottled water.

 

Babaro is a well-known bandit responsible for numerous attacks across Ƙankara, Malumfashi, Bakori, Faskari, and Funtua LGAs.

 

It was earlier reported that Tsiga’s abductors had demanded ₦250 million for his release. The retired Brigadier General, who previously served as Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was kidnapped on Wednesday night from his residence in Tsiga town, Bakori LGA.

 

Authorities have yet to release an official statement o1n the situation.
